25 "What" Questions For Self-Discovery

Monday, August 24, 2020

Ask yourself these "why" questions to discover who you really are.

From the moment we're born we are told who we are; our parents, extended family members, and society all begin to shape who they want us to be. No wonder depression is most common among 18-25 year-olds, which is a key time in our lives where we try to discover our own identity.

I believe another pivotal moment of discovering who we are comes when we start the journey to accomplishing a major goal in our lives. It is at this time that we have to reconcile whether we truly want the accomplishment for us in order to fulfill the purpose and calling on our lives. Or,  if we are doing all this to make others happy or impressed with our abilities and titles.

Therefore, I recommend completing self-discovery exercises such as this right at the beginning of such a journey and after any traumatic incidences in our lives. Trauma can bring out the best or worst in us, and depending on which one it brings out of you, acknowledging who you really are is key.
