30-Day Confidence Builder

Bible verses to help you build confidence.

Confidence is something that we all need in order to accomplish our goals. However, it's perhaps one of the hardest traits to develop in a world that favors perfection over truth. Our social media accounts are bombarded by "no makeup," makeup shots, and overly edited photos that appear to be natural. We are flooded with the overnight success stories of business gurus that seldom talk about the 5-10 years of struggles before they hit success.

Yet, through it all, here we stand wondering, "How can I compete, I'm a mere mortal up against these giants?" After all, you only have your purpose and the promises of Yah to fall back on. There is no family inheritance to get you started and no ivy league education backing you up. Your thighs rub together when you walk and you've been struggling for 3-months just to go live on Instagram.

Girl, you gotta fake it, until you make it!

So, how can you build and maintain the confidence to step out on faith and pursue your purpose, even when you're hopeless? When I initially posed this question to myself roughly three years ago, I fell into the same trap as most people; I faked my confidence. I felt weak and inadequate about not having confidence in myself and my abilities to build my business and achieve my goals.

Have you been a part of this vicious cycle? You lack the confidence to truly take authentic action, but instead of admitting it and looking for a better way, you just pretend like you have it all together. We are taught to be "strong, black women," so any sign of weakness is thought of as a curse instead of just being a human emotion.

In my opinion, this cycle is what leads to "imposter syndrome," or the feeling of not measuring up and deserving one's accomplishments. Although you may be killing it in your field, deep down inside you feel like it was a fluke. Or, you feel like any day now someone is going to pull the rug from under your feet and reveal that you're really not that great.

The truth is, you're really not THAT great. Honestly, nothing about you is extraordinary in and of itself. This is a lie that the world has told us, which is why believers of Scripture have such a hard time believing it. We are absolutely nothing without our God-Elohim. We create nothing, do nothing, and think of nothing without His Ruach HaKadosh resting in us. To think that you did anything in your own strength would be idolatry.

Rest assured you no longer have to fake it until you make it, or rely on your own abilities to build self-confidence. I've compiled a list of 30 places in scripture that will help you build confidence in the two things that will never fail you; your Creator and your Calling.

I often tell people not to have confidence in themselves, but instead have confidence in the one who sent them. As you go through this 30-day confidence builder, you'll place your confidence where it belongs, in God. And, you'll become confident in the fact that He created you for a particular purpose and has called you to fulfill that purpose.
